MIXED MEDIA ART HOLIDAYS
Nicky's House
Nicky's is a Victorian House and has lots of original features. It is situated in the Furzeham area of Brixham with views over the town and to Summercoombe Hills. It has a great variety of art and craft within and on it's walls. Nicky has her own studio in the old scullery and teaches in the dining room. Weather permitting we also use the patio and garden. Nicky's books, references and internet are available to her students.

The Art Courses
The courses held at Nicky's House are taught from Thursday morning to Sunday afternoon. Teaching times are from 10am - 5pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 10am - 12pm on Sunday. The courses are limited to six students so that everyone benefits to the full. Absolute beginners are welcome. Nicky's method of teaching is akin to that on a Foundation Art Course. Students are encouraged to try different media and approaches in their work, to find their own style and the media that suits them best. Nicky can also incorporate working in 3d in both clay and papier mache should the mood take any student. They are offered different objects and scenes to tackle. Trips out to Battery Gardens, Berry Head Country Park, The Harbour and if the weather is horrible, The Breakwater Bistro, Berry Head Hotel, Brixham Museum will be an intrinsic part of the courses. Students will be encouraged to gather references and develop sketch books. The courses are relaxed, non-competetive, and Nicky will encourage you to try lots of different ideas in the fabulous realms of art!

Nicky has taught in Adult Education, Colleges of Further Education, Primary and Secondary Schools and run workshops for teachers since 1990. Following a Ceramics Degree at Middlesex University Nicky worked as a prop maker and designer in theatre, film and television. In 1992, a move to Holland gave Nicky the chance to paint full-time and she has worked as an artist since then. She sells her work in a variety of galleries and to private collectors worldwide. In June 2008, in partnership with photographer Chris Slack, she opened The Slack Stevenson Gallery in Brixham.
